“Roads will be ground down, milled and paved,” said North Arlington Councilman Richard Hughes. “This will restore roads from the damage they received from bad winters we’ve had in the last few years.”
Last week, roadwork resumed on the 2014 road improvement project as the company the borough had originally hired had gone bankrupt.
“We are finishing up work that we started last year and restarting the program,” Hughes said.
The 2014 work consists of finishing up work on Belmount Avenue, Noel Drive and Stover Avenue.
The mayor and council passed the 2015 road improvement project resolution costing roughly $660,000 at the Oct. 11 council meeting.
The 2015 roadwork will start on November 1 and consists of Arlington Boulevard, Albert Street, Moore Place, Truman Road, Sixth Street, Eighth Street and part of Eagle Street.
Porete Avenue will also undergo major repairs. Infrared patches will be used in a couple of sections that are particularly bad.
“It will be a mess for a couple of weeks in town,” Hughes said, “but I think the improvement will be well worth it.”
